Windows 11 allows you to set a different wallpaper per virtual desktop. That's great unless you're like me: you want the same wallpaper set on all desktops and you change wallpapers frequently.

2021.12.06 12:13 alenksa I feel like I am one mistake from my parents getting a divorce
I'm not sure what I do that gets my parents so heated at me from doing nothing. I feel like this is their way of venting anger or something not at each other so they yell at me and blame me for stuff. My mom tells me the most, that everything going wrong in my life is all my fault and only mine. I can't lie there I guess but sometimes I wish I could get some guidance that helped me realize exactly what I'm doing wrong. My younger sister also gets mad and blames me as well. She also insults me a lot which I think is normal between siblings but sometimes I find it hurtful at times for it's uncalled most of the time. I don't like seeing my parents yell because of me but I feel like I am at my breaking point. I find it very hard to focus on anything lately and I'm always crying (yuck). I guess this is more of a rant idk because it may be too much of a statement to ask for advice. Well if anyone read this, thank you.

2021.12.06 12:13 CProphet Discussion: SpaceX dominance, good or bad
2021 has proven a turning point for SpaceX as a launch service provider, as they achieved broad market dominance across the commercial and civil sectors. In addition, they seem poised to capture the defense sector in coming years, SpaceX and ULA are neck and neck for defense launches in 2022 with 5 missions planned by each – barring surprises. Such tectonic shifts in the space industry landscape promises great opportunity for some and hard times for others – both good and bad in equal measure.
Normally when any commercial company comes to dominate an area of the market, it’s common for them to leverage their winning position to maximize profit. For example: a dominant company might tend to increase costs to the customer – or reduce capital expenditure due to lack of competition. However, SpaceX’s primary motivation isn’t to make profit, their corporate goal is to make life multiplanetary. Over the years they’ve repeated proved their commitment to this goal, Elon stated they spent hundreds of millions extra to develop Crew Dragon (a necessary step for passenger transport) and supplied 90% of the funding to develop Starship, the first interplanetary vehicle. In addition they avoid making undue profits from customers, instead offering low prices to attract more custom, then operate a higher cadence to make whatever money they need to stay solvent. Likewise, they generally ask for substantially less from the government to develop new space capabilities, because these often facilitate their own long-term goal, so they are only interested in covering costs. Overall this suggests their big strategy is to stimulate space activity through applying low costs, until they’ve created a functioning space economy which spans multiple worlds. Important to note: SpaceX’s corporate mission is highly altruistic, creating a self-sustaining settlement on Mars will effectively double humanity’s chance of survival in the case of some future cataclysm. In addition this should create a spacefaring culture where people are generally happier and feel more optimistic about the future due to broad technological and cultural advances.
Normally it’s healthy to have a good number of companies in any sector because competition generally improves customer service and encourages competitive prices. However, SpaceX are so competitive it effectively hedges anyone else from engaging in anything they see as vital to their corporate mission. A good example would be NASA’s Artemis project, where SpaceX was the only bid selected to build a Human Landing System, based on price and technical merit. Considering NASA are shifting their emphasis to deep space missions in the future, this suggests SpaceX will become their strong right arm and reduce legacy companies to little more than spectators. On balance this might be viewed as a desirable outcome because legacy companies only seek to make profit, which renders them incapable of executing such ambitious goals as SpaceX. It seems quite counterintuitive but, in this instance, competition actually hinders space development, because no one can compete with SpaceX’s extraordinary effectiveness and focus. Advocating SpaceX should become the principle contractor for the human space program seems extreme until you take into account some of their competitor’s efforts are effectively redundant; realistically most legacy companies will not complete their development projects before SpaceX render their products obsolete.
Good example would be SLS, considering it’s not due to launch until summer 2022, Starship could have reasonably completed 2 or 3 test flights by then. Similarly SLS won’t carry its 4 astronauts around the moon until 2024 at the earliest, probably later. Yet Starship should fly 12 or more passengers on the #Dearmoon private mission a year before then, all at a magnitude (or two) less cost.
Another example is Starliner, in all likelihood Crew Dragon should begin its second tranche of ISS flights before Starliner carries its first astronaut. Considering Crew Dragon has proved many times safer and cheaper than Boeing’s Starliner, effectively it will be obsolete on arrival.
Everyone loves the idea of Sierra’s Dream Chaser but sad to say they’re simply too slow to be practical. By the time they get around to crew rating DC, Starship will be flying to Mars and back – with the ISS a fond memory.
Realistically none of these efforts are needed to push the needle due to SpaceX’s unparalleled capabilities. In the future that difference will only become starker, as SpaceX steadily pulls away from the competition.
SpaceX are dominant through necessity, to attain their overarching goal. This will require far greater innovation and efficiencies than are possible at legacy companies, who can’t hope to compete in this more aggressive arena. However, reduced competition should actually result in faster space development, as SpaceX continue to absorb and stimulate the sector in an endless gyr of growth.
